Yesterday I was in two minds...Summer holidays had come to an end
and I wanted both to go to college and not go to college. The the main reason for me not wanting to go to the college was the heat. Almost every place in the country is burning(Okay except the hill stations)!
Then something happened in the evening(yesterday of-course) that
changed my mind..It rained(voila!). SO today morning I woke up at six
(after a very very very looooong time) and started getting ready for
college. At the bus stop I met a classmate of mine so we started
discussing what we did in the holidays. She did almost nothing, moving on to me we talked about my lost job and the missed vacation(read the previous blog).
Once we were on the bus we purchased our tickets and kept a hawks
eye on the conductor, he had not returned the change to either of us. He did in the end and we got down to our beloved college.
First day of the college is always a no show I guess, hardly anybody came(except jobless people like us; as a friend of mine would have put it), but hey I happen to like my college though I keep cursing it. We had assembly (yes, we are still treated like kids! my college is a girls convent
you see).
The first thing our principle Sister said (after saying "welcome back")was: "second years raise your hands" then she asked the 3rd years to do the same thing, after reassuring herself that her students have not changed by checking the dismal attendance she gave us a task: "your first task after you back home is to inform your friends to come back to the college".
Yeah right instead we should be telling ourselves lets not go back to college tomorrow I told a friend of mine and she obviously agreed to the idea. Well after that she dropped a bomb on us. "Girls you are going to have full days on Saturdays" AARRRGGGHH!!! All of us groaned. It is
so unfair man! Plus I guess we cannot wear civil on Saturdays(gotta bid farewell to the Saturday fashion parade *sob sob*).
Some of the girls went to the principal to talk her into letting it be half days and though I dont know what happened(they weren't from my stream) it sure must have been like beating the head against a rock.
Coming to the rest of the day, we had french class for some time, our sir proposed to have a
viva; "girls shall we have viva this term?" most of us chorused a noooo!!!! I again said no and suggested in a low voice that he should cancel the written exam if he wants a change(the surrounding girls started laughing...but I was quite serious! hehe)
We have a new journalism teacher again, she has done M.A in journalism(the first two were not even journalism students) so she seems to be quite good with the subject, there is just one problemo, she talks too softly, half of what she says does not even reach my ear. The ironic part was that she had asked something to my classmate and she could not hear my mates reply, so she said "The most important thing for a journalism student is to be loud...." I started laughing inside but then of-course how would she know that she is not loud she can hear her own voice right. English literature was a shock to all of us, we have Janaki Naidu as our lecturer who was supposed to be retired, and is very strict. On second thoughts I realized that its tit for tat with her, if you dont behave well you are gonna have it bad, but since I love literature I should not
be having anything to bother with plus she is a great teacher!
Well that is all I have to say about today and oh it got really hot in the afternoon my poor back is still crying from the heat :p
