Francophone

In my twelfth standard my first chapter(In English CBSE) was how the french people were affected when Alsace and Loraine was added to the German empire and they were imposed with German as their language. It was the first time I had read that French was the most beautiful language in the world. Back then I had no clue that this beautiful language is going to drive me crazy! I had no second language in my 11th and 12th and never imagined that I would have a second language again, yet I did,French happens to be the second language in my degree!
While some of my classmates get 98,96 and 97 in french,I am always crying before my french exam that I do not know anything but somehow scrape through. Well to be frank I am always sleeping in my french class! I do love the words but I do not find french easy. Off-course it could be a mental block because I wanted to take Hindi as my second language and am always reminding my friends(who have Hindi as their 2nd language) how lucky they are. I had signed up for a language exchange in the beginning of my holidays. Quite some french people would add me for a chat to learn English and the first thing I would say is "Je ne sais pas Francais"(I do not know french) and the next thing they would do is exit the chat!(Its obvious is it not, I don't know french they don't know English, how on earth can we learn anything?.. you need to have a common language too)
Finally there was this guy who just wanted to practice English and not learn it so I helped him practice and in my turn just learnt a few phrases & confirmed a few absurd things my Sir had told about the French people. According to my sir the french can talk on anything you ask them to, they could write pages and pages on something like a pencil! (and I struggle here to think of what I should write in my blog!). The french guy said he was not sure of it. And then another interesting thing about the french popped up in mind(according to my french sir off-course): the men and women don't get along well, (french women prefer dogs). He said he was not sure that it applied to everybody and then after a pause added his ex-girlfriend was English. After sometime he added he prefers foreign women(gotcha!). Then he went back to asking me what more phrases would I like to know. I said him I would rather help him practice English(yes I gave up on language exchange after that, I bought a book to learn french which lies almost untouched). I also let him know that according to me French is very tough! He assured me it was very easy.

The French say french is easy just like the Greek would say Greek is easy.
(I am not going to bunk or sleep through French classes anymore.. I am gonna [try]study)

Au revoir!

  5. Bonjour Sneha, j'espère que tu vas bien!
Haha... many stereotypes about us (french people). For example, that we eat snails, frogs.. never tasted snails or frogs!!
But, i objectively know that french langage is not an easy langage, even for us sometimes! But when you'll be able to speak french ... it will be fantastic!
